Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least an hour. The Marengo winery has been located in Piedmont, in the Barolo wine district, since its founding in 1899. Today, the company is managed by Marco Marengo, who tends the estate's 7 hectares of vineyards with his wife. Marco has introduced a more modern approach to production, including the use of barriques, but maintains a traditionalist philosophy focused on the pure expression of terroir. The Nebbiolo grapes come from a plot located in the Bricco delle Viole Cru, characterized by soils rich in clay and limestone. After harvesting and fermenting at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, the wine ages in oak barrels for two years before bottling. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant garnet-red color. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with initial floral notes typical of Nebbiolo, such as violet and rose, followed by fruity hints of plum and cherry on a spicy background. On the palate, it is generous, velvety, juicy, and smooth, with a seductive character and soft, balanced tannins. It is a harmonious and elegant wine, capable of aging well for a couple of decades, but ready to be enjoyed now on its own or with aged cheeses or red meat stews.
